Swansea Asylum Seekers Support (SASS)


We organise "COMMUNITY DROP-INS" twice a week for asylum-seekers and refugees, other newcomers and residents, families and people on their own. About 150 people come every week for: free refreshments, play for children (with professional playworkers in the Welcome to Play project), English learning and conversation, advice, information, table-tennis, chess and other games, and friendship. We also organise or help organise special events. And we publish refugee literature with Hafan Books.

  • Children's Playgroup

Friday Drop-in: 4pm to 7:30pm

Children’s Play Team

Children’s Play Team

A team within Swansea Council that supports and provides for the play needs of children and young people (CYP) throughout Swansea, advocates the importance of play for the development, health and well-being for CYP and families and tackles issues that may hinder access to play opportunities.

  • Co – facilitate the BME Community Family and Play Work stream with City of Sanctuary
  • Direct play opportunities and support provided for CYP and families with view of creating play opportunities for asylum seeker and refugee families
  • Organisational support and training to ASAR groups
